It is common to categorize oneself these days, and it is seductive to look for a label that would become one’s ticket to a group to belong to. In raw and plant-based “societies”, the following label system exists:
Fully/100% Raw means that no cooked foods ever cross the paths with the person.
(Just) Raw by convention means that 75% of consumed matter is raw, and the rest is up to the Divine Providence. Raw is not equal to Raw Plant Based because it may include raw eggs, fish, unpasteurized dairy, and even meat. It is pretty safe to assume that (Just) Raw will be rather plant-based and likely open to consuming cooked legumes.
Vegan means that the person can consume and use the matter that was produced without exploiting animals in any way. It is an ethical and comprehensive term that primarily relates to the moral, not health choices, yet does not exclude the possibility of seeking both. The intention is selfless (also selfish though, because selflessness often makes us feel good!) and is to reduce and, as an ultimate goal, get rid of unnecessary violence.
Plant-Based means that the person mainly thrives off of plants that are a foundation of their diet. Strictly speaking, you cannot be mostly Vegan, but can be mainly plant-based. Plant-Based is more about health choice, yet it in no way makes it less ethical if the actions are identical to the Vegan’s.
Raw Vegan and Raw Plant-Based essentially exclude the possibility of a person consuming the parts of an animal, and Raw Vegan would not consume or use anything produced with animal exploitation. Raw Vegan though would not use bee products, for example, whereas for Raw Plant-Based it might be permissible. Extrapolate.
I can be categorized as a Raw Plant-Based because I do consume cooked legumes and some mushrooms, as well as I eat and use bee products.
